Driver Skills Development Program (Advanced Driver Training) Corporate Driving Groups and Organizations Public Safety Professionals Course Outline The Driver Skills Development Program commonly referred to as Advanced Driver Training is sanctioned by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. The course provides students with the opportunity to learn and practice accident avoidance techniques. The course if offered to students who hold a valid driver's license, or a valid learner's permit and have completed a minimum of ten hours supervised behind-the-wheel training. The instruction is conducted on a closed course at an off-road training facility. The program is often thought of as a youth or teen driving program, however drivers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. The staff at Driven School of Advanced Driver Training will guide you through several courses over the 4 hour block of instruction. Experience our one of a kind training that relies on a two prong approach. First, we help the student to master the physical skills, next we address the cognitive issues critical in the safe operation of an automobile. We instruct you on how to develop the abilities that will help you identify potentially hazardous situations before you are in them. We are committed to not just train you and equip you with the physical skills required to complete a maneuver but rather take it a step further and incorporate the mental links that come into play when a driver is thrust into a stressful real life accident avoidance situation. Studies show that when placed into a stressful situation, our decision making abilities lessen and we revert back to our training and mental links formed in the training setting. We take training seriously. We want you to have the best opportunity to avoid or escape the unexpected. Every inch of our program is designed to do just that. Driving is 95% mental. We understand that and we train with this in mind. If you are taking another driving course and just driving through some cones you are just getting 5%. Parents, we welcome and encourage you to attend with your son or daughter. You can come as a spectator or take advantage of our family rates. There are numerous insurance companies offering discounts ranging from 5%-10% for completing the Driver Skills Development Program. Check with your insurance company or agent for details.
