Instructor introduction and brief explanation of
the course. Safety briefing conducted.
In
Reverse – When it comes to backing up, visibility is the key.
If you can’t see it or don’t know it’s there, well you know the rest. Students
will be shown a seating position to use when backing up that allows for optimal
vision.
Tailgating – Following Distance –
Instruction will be provided with respect to following distances. The lesson
will address appropriate following distances and how conditions can affect
stopping distances. Student will participate in an in-car demonstration
conclusively displaying the unavoidable consequences of insufficient space
between you and the car in front of you.
Dynamic Brake and Turn Exercise
With ABS – What is ABS? Does your car have ABS? Why do I need to know? Students will
enter the event and upon stimuli will react to an emergency situation by using
the intended capabilities of the vehicles ABS system,
Slalom
Course – Students will be shown the correct seating and hand
position. They will receive a brief introduction to the topic of vehicle
dynamics and how it applies to vehicular control. Students will see how small
steering movements and changes in speed impact the overall ability to maintain
control of a vehicle.
Evasive Emergency Lane Change –
An exercise in vehicle dynamics that could save your
life. A stimulus driven exercise designed to prepare the driver for the unnamed
variable that has just crossed his/her path.
